EDUCATIONAL COMPONENT

Dr. Chris Wyckoff, who also serves as the Assistant Director of Medical Education at Virginia Hospital Center, looks to this program as a way to introduce alternative comfort and healing practices to the medical residents who rotate through Virginia Hospital Center, one of the area's top teaching hospitals.  He shares, "More and more, you see alternative therapies making their way into the hospitals in an effort to treat the whole person, not just the textbook physiology of a disease or injury."  In his work with the residents, Dr. Wyckoff hopes that The Music as Medicine Project will help residents broaden their perspective on what helps a patient to recover.
